Contract Manager

We are currently seeking a Contracts Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated, highly organised individual, with experience managing several jobs and installation teams simultaneously in the civil engineering sector.

As a Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing projects under your supervision and ensuring quality and consistency of workmanship of site teams. You will liaise with site Supervisors and clients, review and amend terms within contracts, and manage the post-contract process through to completion and handover. You will establish and execute effective site programmes, manage cost-effective purchasing, source labour and materials, and ensure Health and Safety compliance meets current regulations. You will work closely with the Field Operations Manager to assist in the effective management of projects of all sizes.

The key duties of the Contracts Manager role include:

  • Ensuring quality and consistency of workmanship of site teams.
  • Overseeing projects under your supervision liaising with site Supervisors and clients.
  • Liaising between site Supervisors and Field Operations Manager.
  • Reviewing, amending and agreeing terms within contracts for incoming projects placed under your supervision.
  • Taking responsibility for the post-contract process through to completion and handover.
  • Establishing and executing effective site programmes.
  • Managing cost-effective purchasing for projects under your control.
  • Sourcing labour and materials when and if required in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety compliance meets current regulations and maintaining standards to the highest level.
  • Working closely with the Field Operations Manager to assist in the effective management of projects of all sizes.
  • Organising delivery and collection of materials to and from sites whilst ensuring stock is managed accurately.
  • Creating Works Orders for projects under your control to be processed through to Production.
  • Raising non-conformance reports, liaising with the QA Manager to satisfactory conclusion.
  • Compiling risk assessment documentation and method statements for projects under your control.
  • Providing regular progress updates to Field Operations Manager on projects under your control.
  • Attending site meetings (pre-contract and pre-start) and carrying out site visits as and when required. (Overnight stays will be a requirement depending on location)
  • Assisting the Field Operations Manager with ad hoc tasks on an as-needed basis.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a good understanding and technical knowledge of the construction industry, experience in Health and Safety management, and a valid SMSTS, Driver’s Licence, and Passport. Excellent numeracy and literacy are essential, with a minimum level A-C (Grade 4+) GCSE (or equivalent).

You will be expected to work Monday to Friday, 0800-1700hrs, mainly from our clients Head office in Billericay, Essex. However, you should be flexible in working hours to meet the needs of the business. You will be seconded to site teams around the UK for up to 6 months for practical training, which will include spending time away.
